Explain the initial design considerations you made on this project.

1. Ensure the spatial requirements for the proposed vocational centre and the sports hall can be met within the existing space.
2. Functional requirements of the proposed vocational unit.
3. Construction of the dividing wall, method & specification, suitability of the floor and potential structural issues.
4. Acoustics - noise from either side impacting the other side.

Why did you recommend two different types of wall constructions?

1. Robust construction on the first 3m to accommodate the impact of sports activities and provide lateral stability.
2. Lower weight studwork above the wall to reduce the loadings on the floor/ foundations and reduce costs.

Explain why you recommended appointing a structural engineer to advise on the floor loadings?

Answer 4

I am not competent to confirm the floor would be able to support the load and the steel supports/wall required designing for the tender pack - specification.
