Q

Cruise-to-Climb Transition

A

Power - smoothly advance power to MAX
Attitude - raise the nose to 12-15* nose high
Trim - as required and commence clearing turns as appropriate
As airspeed decreases to 180 KIAS, lower nose slightly to the normal climbing attitude of 8*

Q

Climb-to-Cruise Transition

A

200ft prior to level-off altitude, begin lowering nose toward the level flight attitude.
Trim for acceleration
Five knots prior desired cruise speed:
- Power- smoothly reduce to normal cruise, 54% (80% fast cruise)
- Attitude - set level flight picture
- Trime as necessary

Q

Cruise-to-Descent Transition

A

Power - smoothly reduce to 20%
Attitude - lower nose to the en route descent nose attitude (5* nose low)
Trim for power reduction and commence clearing turns as appropriate

Q

Descent-to-Cruise Transition

A

Passing 100ft prior to level-off altitude, simultaneously:
Power - advance to normal cruise (54%)
Attitude - raise the nose to level flight picture
Trim for power addition

Q

Level Speed Change

A

Establish the aircraft in normal cruise configuration (200 KIAS)
Reduce power to idle. Trim for deceleration. When airspeed is below 150 KIAS, lower LDG GR
As airspeed approaches 120 KIAS, adjust power to 31% to maintain 120 KIAS
Stabilize aircraft in the downwind configuration. Trim as necessary
Lower LDG Flaps. As airspeed approaches 110 KIAS, advance power to 50% and stabilize. Trim
Complete “Before Landing Checklist” over the ICS
Advance power to MAX, check airspeed below 150 KIAS, and raise gear and flaps. Report “Gear up, flaps up at ___ knots.” Trim for acceleration
Accelerate to normal cruise. As airspeed approaches 200 KIAS, reduce power to 54%
Trim

Q

Slow Flight (SCATSAFE) Maneuver

A

At a safe altitude, slow aircraft below 150 KIAS and configure LDG GR down
Before Landing Checklist and Pre-stall/spin/aerobatic Checklist
Clear Area
Lower LDG Flaps. Continue reducing airspeed to approximately 80 KIAS (15 units AOA), while setting about 45% torque

Q

Straight-Ahead Stall

A

Adjust PCL to 30-60% torque
Raise the nose to a pitch attitude between 15-40%
Maintain attitude using back pressure
Keep wings level with coordinated rudder and aileron
Recover

Q

Power-Off Stall (ELP Stall)

A

Configure to the aircraft in clean configuration. Begin the maneuver at slow cruise (150 KIAS) and complete above 6000 AGL.
Perform Pre-stall/spin/aerobatics Checklist
Clear area
Wings level. Reduce power for 4-6% torque for 125 KIAS.
As airspeed approaches 125 KIAS, lower nose to the 125-knot glide attitude (horizon bisecting windscreen) Check 1350-1500 feet/min sink rate
Re-trim and stablize
Simulate High Key and lower the landing gear; Re-trim for 120-knot glide and 15-20* AOB to Low Key. Complete “Before Landing Checklist”
Raise nose to 5-10* nose high and allow airspeed to decay until first indication of impending stall (airframe buffet or stick shaker)
Maintain the turn or profile ground track and recover by lowering the pitch attitude to put the prop arc on the horizon (8% nose low) until 120 KIAS is regained

Q

Landing Pattern (Approach Turn) Stall

A

Configure for downwind. 120 KIAS, gear down, flaps as required
Pre-stall/spin/aerobatics Checklist
Clear Area
Simulate transition near abeam position IAW Contact FTI landing pattern procedures. Power at about 14/15/18% torque repectively and airspeed at 120/115/110 KIAS, trimeed in a descending 30* AOB
Once stablized on airspeed, raise nose to 5-10* nose high and reduce power to idle. Maintain AOB between 20-45* and hold pitch attitude.
At first indication of stall, stick shaker or airframe buffet, recover

Q

Landing Attitude Stall

A

Establish a simulated final approach at 5-10 knots above final final approach airspeed commensurate with flap setting
Pre-stall/spin/aerobatic Checklist
Clear Area
PCL to idle and execute a simulated landing transition. Hold the landing attitude constant until approach to stall indication occurs. Recover on approach to stall indication, which is activation of the stick shaker or airframe buffet

Q

Slip

A

125 KIAS clean or 120 KIAS with gear/flaps
From wings level, lower one wing and apply opposite rudder. Adjust rudder pressure to maintain desired ground track
While in a turn, lower the inboard wing while increasing opposite rudder pressure
Monitor airspeed closely, adjust nose attitude as necessary to maintain 125 KIAS
Recover by smoothly rolling wings towards level while reducing rudder pressure
