Define Social Issues
Social issues are widespread behaviors considered undesirable by most, affecting many people directly or indirectly and conflicting with societal beliefs.
What are some types of social issues?
Juvenile delinquency, STD/STI’s
Substance abuse
Incest
Teenage Pregnancy
Child Abuse
Domestic Violence
Human Trafficking

What is Juvenile Delinquency?
antisocial or criminal behavior carried out by young people or juveniles
What are STD/STI?
Sexually transmitted diseases/infection.
How can STD/STI be reduced?
Good sex education can reduce the rates of STD/STI
Substance abuse
is the dependence on an addictive substance, especially alcohol or drugs
What is Incest?
is the sexual intercourse between biologically related siblings or children and parents
What is teenage Pregnancy?
this can cause a strain on a family resources & relationships, disrupt her education and the child, if it survives the birth, can also be affected from these poor outcomes
What is child abuse?
includes neglect, failing to provide care, physical/emotional/sexual abuse, or forcing a child to do harmful or unsuitable work (like child labor).
What is domestic violence?
involves an attack on one family member by another
What is human trafficking?
is the moving of persons against their will from their usual place of residence to another location
What is alternative lifestyle?
Certain practices, like polygamy, multiple partners, or homosexuality, clash with a society’s written or unwritten rules and are often viewed as immoral or harmful to traditional family structures.
What are street children?
These are children deprived of home safety, affection, food, education, and constantly facing violence and manipulation
