What is all the context points.
The great depression - stock market crash 1929 led to nationwide economic collapse. Banks failed unemployment soared.
The American dream - The american dream promised prosperity and success however this idea seemed unachievable at this time.
Racism - Segregation and racism was common in American Society. Crooks isolated from the rest of the men.
Role of women - Woman were given domestic roles and had little autonomy (independence).
Nomadic lifestyle - Due to unemployment many men became itinerant workers moving from ranch to ranch and friendships were rare as workers didn’t stay in one place for long.
Masculinity - Traditional ideas of masculinity emphasised strength, dominance and emotional suppression.
Why is the title of mice of men significant?
It is an allusion to the poem ‘to a mouse’ the title reflects the fragility of human dreams.
