Q

Control engineering

A

the application of control theory (the mathematical description of the behaviour of a control system) combined with the knowledge of the design and behaviour of the system and controller technology to produce stable and predictable systems which produce outputs that match a reference value

Q

Open loop system main overall feature

A

controls the initial settings (there is a controller) but doesn’t monitor the output , so it cannot compensate for disturbances

8
Q

Describe the flow of a closed loop system

A

reference value is inputted into the controller
the controller sets initial settings based on the reference value
the initial measured error should be 0
the controller outputs a system input
the system output is measured by the sensor
the signal is compared to the reference value and the measured error is calculated
new initial settings which are altered by a factor equal to the measured error are inputted into the controller
the process repeats

9
Q

main important feature of a closed loop system

A

feedback: correction is based on the difference between the output signal measured by the sensor and the input reference
