-a man who has Coe. Back from war severely wounded
-affected by his time on the front line
-man reminiscing about the good times before his life was torn apart by not only his injuries but his psychological torment

The title
-indicates suffering and hurt inflicted onto the men in the aftermath of war
-the word disabled is metaphorical the mans body is disabled but also the way he lives his life is also disabled
-disabled is a harsh adjective which shows the reader how impactful the war was on men.it also lets readers know owens attitude to the horrific injuries that the men of war endured
First paragraph (mood)
-dark upsetting mood portrayed by Owen
-‘lost his colour very far from here’-metaphor highlights a gloomy and barren atmosphere to the man’s life
-the colour imagery used captures how long it has been since the man’s has been lively and full of colour.
-this shows that the poet is trying to captivate how war takes the light and joy out of peoples lives and leaves them with a dark and miserable mood.
2nd paragraph (tone)
-angry tone
-end of the poem there is a quotation “why don’t they come?”
-rhetorical question shows the desperation and anger from the man
-it shows how men of war are trapped in an endless cycle of pain during and after war
-this line is also repeated and the use of repetition captivates that the man is struggling with the impacts and tragic consequences of war.
-this represents the poet’s attitude to war as he shows war as a lifelong agonising pain.
3rd paragraph
-the structure and form use enjambments throughout the poem
- it is firstly used in the line “will never feel again how slim___ Girls’ waists are.”
-this shows a break in rhythm which emphasises how the man used to touch girls’ waists but because of the war he no longer gets to as they will not look past his disabilities.
-The poets use of rhythm shows he he is trying to captivate the difference between pre-wake and after-war
Conclusion
- poem highlights the poets attitude to war as being very anti war
- as Wilfred Owen was a soldier in war it truly reflects the built up hatred of all men fighting for their country
-this further shows why this poem is completely against any involvement in war and has shown me and insight into the daily impacts that men have to face in the aftermath of confict.
