Roles & Responsibilities of OTs
Direct the evaluation process, assessments/ techniques/ interventions
Roles & Responsibilities for OTAs
Contribute by implementing delegated assessments
Supervision of OT aides
Provide supportive services & don’t deliver skilled OT services. Perform delegated tasks under the supervision of OTs/ OTAs.
Direct or continuous

Considers of delegation
Complexity of the client’s needs, knowledge skill and competence of the OTA, nature & complexity of the intervention, needs & requirements of the setting, boundaries of jurisdictional regulations, payment source requirements
OT process evaluation
OT directs the process, OTA contributes to the evaluation by implementing delegated assessments, OT initiates and directs the evaluation, interprets the data and develops the intervention plan
OT directs the process
Determining the need, defining the problems, determining the client’s goals and priorities, establishing intervention priorities, determining specific assessments, determining assessments that can be delegated to the OTA
OT process intervention plan

OT process intervention implantation- OT responsibilities
OT has overall responsibility for intervention implementation; OT provides appropriate supervision

Client related tasks
Outcome anticipated for the task is predictable; client’s condition & environment are stable and won’t require judgement, interpretations or adaptations; client has demonstrated previous performance ability in executing the task; the task routine & process have been clearly established
Supervisor must ensure that the aide/ tech
