A

It is an episode of cough lasting for 3 to 8 weeks and the causes are persistent tracheobronchitis due to viral causes or pertussis.

What is cough hypersensitivity syndrome?

A

It occurs due to sensitized sensory neurons and afferent pathways and presents as dry or minimally productive cough. The pathophysiology is similar to that in neuropathic pain and is more common in woman than in men

What is ACE inhibitor induced cough ?

A

It occurs in 5 to 30% of patients in a non dose dependent manner due to increased bradykinin mediated sensitization of sensory nerve endings. The cough subsides typically after one month of cessation. The alternative for ACE inhibitor can be ARB.
