Why do feminist reject the March of Progress View?
They do not think that there has been a change
They still believe that women still do all the housework
-they believe that this is all down to the family being based on patriarchy
What argument does the Optimistic View hold?
They argue that women going out to work is leading to a more equal division of labour at home
The Feminist View..
They do NOT believe that women going into paid work is leading to greater equality in the division of domestic labour as many women carry the ‘dual burden’
What is dual burden?
When a person is responsible for two jobs

1) the allowance system - pocket money
2) pooling - both partners have access to income e.g joint bank account
