Judge
the person who presides over the court. a person who is in charge of a trial in a court and decides how a person who is guilty of a crime should be punished.
Foreperson
the member of the jury who can speak. the member of the jury who delivers the verdict.
Defendant
the person who is accused of a crime.
a person in a court of law who is accused of having done something wrong.
Plaintiff
the person who brings the lawsuit to court.
someone who makes a legal complaint against someone else in court.
Council
the lawyer for the state in a lawsuit.

Bailiff
a person who keeps order in the courtroom and assists with the organization of the trial.
a law enforcement officer whose main role is to maintain order during courtroom proceedings.

A person who records all of the events of the trial.

objects, documents, official statements, etc. that are used to prove something is true or not true, especially for legal or insurance purposes.
Sentence
a punishment given by a judge in court to a person or organization after they have been found guilty of doing something wrong.
Premeditated
when a crime (ex: a murder) has been planned in advance.
Gavel
the judge’s hammer.
Testimony
the statement that a witness makes .
Reasonable doubt
something which makes the jury decide on a verdict of not guilty.
Verdict
the conclusions made by the jury.
Chambers
the place where the judge can speak in private with the lawyers.
