What is binary?
A system using 1’s and 0’s to represent data.
What is a central processing unit (CPU)?
The component that processes data, often referred to as the ‘brains’ of the computer.
How does binary represent data?
Using transistors that have two states: on (1) or off (0).
What is Random Access Memory (RAM)?
Memory that stores data currently in use, allowing quicker access than from HDD/SSD.
What is secondary storage?
Memory used to store data permanently, retained even when the power is off.
What are input devices?
Devices used to enter data into a computer, e.g. mouse, keyboard.
What are output devices?
Devices that communicate data from the computer to the user, e.g. speaker, monitor, printer.

What is read-only memory (ROM)?
Memory that stores the computer bootup sequence and cannot be edited.
What does the power supply unit (PSU) do?
Supplies power to components on a computer.
