Q

Where is the facial sensory ganglion?

A

Geniculate ganglion

22
Q

Where is the normal facial motor nucleus?

A

Facial motor nucleus

23
Q

Tell me the facial motor course

A

Exits cranial cavity via internal acoustic meatus and exits skull via stylomastoid foramen - muscles of facial expression/stylohyoid/posterior digastric/stapedius

24
Q

Tell me the facial parasympathetic course

A

Cell body in superior salivary nucleus

Exits internal auditory meatus –> 2 spots
1) greater petrosal to pterygopalatine ganglion (this will innervate maxillary nerve branches to nose glands, sinuses, palate, lacrimal gland)

2) chorda tympani to submandibular ganglion (this will innervate submandibular/sublingual glands to the oral cavity glands)

25
Q

Where is the vestibular CN VIII sensory cell body?

A

Vestibular ganglion

26
Q

where’s the cochlear CN VIII sensory cell body?

A

Spiral ganglion

27
Q

What is the course of the CN VIII nerve (vestibular and cochlear separate)

A

Vestibular
Vestibular ganglion –> internal acoustic meatus –> cristae of SC canals and maculae of utricle and saccule

Cochlear
Spiral ganglion –> internal acoustic meatus –> Organ of Corti

28
