Situational crime prevention-how adaptations can be made to prevent criminal acts. E.g Window locks, car alarms and CCTV
Environmental crime prevention-the role of formal control measures being implemented to reduce crime (e.g. police). E.g, Anti-homeless spikes and sloping seats
Zero Tolerance Policing
Zero Tolerance Policing involves the police strictly enforcing every facet of law.

Social and community crime prevention:
Intervention - identifying groups and risk of committing crime and taking action to limit their offending
Community – involving the local community in combating crime.
Early intervention- Perry pre-school project
A group of disadvantaged black children age 3-4 year old’s were offered a two year intellectual enrichment programme and had weekly home-visits. The study shows significant differences between the experimental group and the controlled group.
By age 40:
they had had significantly fewer arrests for various types of crime
a higher percentage had graduated high school and made it into full-time employment.
Community (involvement) Young and Matthews
Improving relationships between the community and the police by improving leisure facilities, improving housing estates, and reducing unemployment.
