ROUTES OF APPEAL FROM THE CROWN COURT
A
- Appeal to the Court of Appeal - made within 28 days and leave to appeal required. Criminal Appeal Act 1995
- Appeal by way of case to the King’s Bench division of the High Court
- Judge can uphold, quash or order a retrial
- Further appeal - leapfrog from High Court to Supreme Court or Appeal to Supreme court on point of law or public importance - ALSO requires leave to appeal
