How many Unsatisfactory (U) ratings can a student receive before dismissal?
A student is allowed up to 3 ‘U’ ratings. The 4th ‘U’ results in dismissal.

The student is notified and advised by the instructor on how to improve; the ‘U’ is recorded in CANVAS or another database.
What earns a ‘U’ under attendance?
Every 9 hours (1.5 days) missed earns a ‘U’. In a 9-week semester, 24 hours (4 days) = dismissal. In a full semester, 30 hours (5 days) = dismissal.

Every 2 tardies equal one ‘U’.
What happens if a student fails to demonstrate 10 Standard Orders knowledge?
They earn a ‘U’ and must maintain 80% proficiency or better throughout the semester.

They earn a ‘U’ and must maintain 80% proficiency or better throughout the semester.
What performance evaluation score at week 6 results in a ‘U’?
A score of less than 60% results in a ‘U’ (specific to Phase 1).
What earns a ‘U’ under safety violations?
Any minor safety violation, including improper tool or chainsaw use, being unfit for duty, or any unsafe action as determined by the instructor.
What PPE violations earn a ‘U’?
More than 2 offenses of missing required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hard hat, Nomex clothing, boots) earn a ‘U’.
What uniform violations earn a ‘U’?
More than 2 offenses of violating uniform standards, including incorrect apparel or wearing the RC-WLF hat improperly.
What happens if a student fails to meet mastery skill requirements?
They earn a ‘U’. They must score 80% or better; each failed reassessment earns another ‘U’.
What happens if a student doesn’t meet the hiking benchmark by week 6?
They earn a ‘U’.
What earns a ‘U’ for phone use?
More than 2 offenses of using a phone during class, taking unauthorized photos, or posting class content to social media.
How many missed hours cause dismissal in a 9-week semester?
18 hours (3 days) missed = dismissal.
How many missed hours cause dismissal in a full semester?
30 hours (5 days) missed = dismissal.
What NWCG exam score results in dismissal?
Scoring less than 70% on any NWCG exam results in dismissal.
What type of safety violation leads to dismissal?
A severe safety violation results in dismissal.
What conduct can cause dismissal?
Poor or questionable conduct or misrepresentation of the program while wearing RC-WLF apparel.
What misuse leads to dismissal?
Misuse of RC-WLF uniform, property, or issued gear results in dismissal.
What is required of DSPS or accommodated students?
They must meet all Suitability Criteria in addition to academic accommodations.
