what is critical thinking
- mode of thinking in which the thinker improves the quality of their thinking by skillfully analyzing, assessing, and reconstructing it
- cognitive process used to analyze empirics

- examine meanings and relationships in data
- form hypothesis and conclusions on the basis of patterns observed
