Q

what are the stages of how crude oil is made:

A
  1. millions of years ago, small marine animals and plants fell to the bottom of the sea
  2. their remains were covered In mud
  3. the mud turned to rock and put pressure on the dead animals and plants
  4. the rocks around them also heated them up; the heat and the pressure turned them into crude oil
  5. pipes are drilled into where the oil is and is pumped out
  6. the oil is burnt as fuel for cars and making electricity

Q

why is crude oil considered a non-renewable energy source?

A
  • it has limited resource
  • takes millions of years to be produced
  • is used faster than it is produced
