How is crude oil formed

-crude oil is HEATED until VAPORISED
-the vapour travels up the column is HOTTER AT THE BOTTOM and the top
-the fractions will condense at different levels at their BOILING POINTS
-shorter chained hydrocarbons CONDENSE at the top of the column and longer chained hydrocarbons condense near the bottom
