Q

Describe this process ?

A

The oil is heated until most of it is a gas, this enters the fractionating column. In the column there is a temperature gradient. Longer hydro carbons have higher boiling points so they condense earlier than the rest. Bubble caps in the column stop the separated liquids going back down the column.
