  • Sx come and go with flare-ups and periods of remission
  • No cure

Marfan syndrome

A
  • systemic inherited disorder affecting CT
  • Pts tend to be tall and thin with long arms and legs
  • Shows with extremely flexible joints and curved spines
  • Complications may occur when cardiovascular tissue is affected leading to heart murmurs or aortic aneurysms

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP):

A
  • rare condition turning muscle and CT to bone
  • Autosomal dominant disorder caused by mutation in ACVR1 gene
  • Children usually have malformed big toes
  • Debilitating and leaves patients immobile
