What does each layer of the adrenal gland secrete?

  • zona glomerulosa - mineralocorticoids, primarily aldosterone
  • zona fasciculata - glucocorticoids, primarily cortisol.
  • zona reticularis - produces androgens
  • adrenal medulla - produces neurotransmitters, primarily adrenaline & noradrenaline
