What challenges may you face as a trainee in 2022
Move to Metropolitan hopsital/Different location
- Away from Hospital network
- Away from Support network
READY: regional work -> multiple different styles + locums + strong support network _ outgoing -> new friends/connections
Learning Curve + Increased Complexity
- Initial years of RANZCOG training -> amassing of technical + non-technical skills
- Regional work only, minimal high complexity experience
READY: Enthusiastic, eager to learn and easy to teach. Ask for support when needed
Why are you ready to begin training in 2022
Hardworking + CLINICALLY COMPETENT
- Constantly working to improve
- Major focus on women centre care
- Senior body had faith in my ability within 4 mths of being a registrar I was promoted to overnight O&G registrar night duty
PROOF: Request Frequent feedback, courses + masters degree
Adaptable
- Working well in environ of change -> ask questions, seek support
- Take responsibility for changes and assist others
PROOF: Remarked upon for ability to escalate care in emergency situations

- Very keen to return to a regional area and provide a service for regional women

- I AM self aware + able to maintain perspective.
- O&G is stressful -> can lose perspective
- High level self awareness/regulation allows clinical leadership in difficult/time critical situations

- On call, missing important moments - High stress/emotional/risk work
- Bad outcomes, difficult situations with layered complexities

- Promote health careers to students from disadvantaged schools regularly
- As someone from a disadvantaged background in regional Victoria brings me great pride to be able to inspire young people like someone did for me
Why do you want to be on the O&G training program
- Good program
- Wide exposure to different clinical environments, experts, research exposure + rural term - O&G excellent area
- Intimate exposure to life changing moments
- Only true generalist speciality

- Broad skillset ( Physician + Surgeon) - Provides me with an avenue to peruse other interested outside of clinical medicine -> bioethics and improving shared decision making and women centred care
