CX Fuel Policy Flashcards
(36 cards)
What is minimum diversion fuel?
Minimum diversion fuel is the sum of:
- ALTERNATE FUEL and
- FINAL RESERVE FUEL.
What is the MINIMUM RESERVE FUEL?
15min holding at 1500ft AGL at the ERA after having suffered a depress/eng failure.
What is the minimum amount of fuel required at dispatch?
FUEL REQUIRED
This includes:
- TAXI
- TRIP
- CONT
- MAND
- ALT
- RESERVE
What is included in TAXI fuel and may this be adjusted by the PIC?
- APU usage
- engine start
- taxi for departure
Taxi fuel may be adjusted by adding fuel for extended taxi.
What do we have to do, if it becomes evident that we will land with less than MIN DIV FUEL?
A “Minimum fuel” call to ATC.
What does REC EXTRA fuel cater for and may this figure be adjusted?
It is extra fuel for:
- exceptional weather,
- ATC delays, or
- other circumstances.
The PIC may add fuel for the above examples.
What do we have to do if it becomes evident that we will land below FINAL RESERVE FUEL?
A “MAYDAY FUEL” call to ATC.
What does the flight crew need to check before passing the PNR on the way to an isolated airport?
- airport reserve fuel of 2hrs is available,
- updated forecast weather conditions are suitable,
- NOTAMs are checked.
What fuel allowances does the all engine operating PNR cater for?
- turn to reciprocal track,
- flight to ERA plus 5%cont.,
- approach and landing,
- final reserve.
What is included in TRIP fuel and may this figure be adjusted?
- takeoff and climb
- departure manoeuvring
- cruise
- descent
- destination manoeuvring
- approach and landing
- allowance for carrying REC EXTRA fuel.
This figure may be adjusted by the PIC.
What fuel requirements are there at isolated airports?
2 hours of holding fuel at cruise power above the aerodrome must be carried.
What is the minimum amount of fuel required at landing after an in-flight reduction?
Final Reserve Fuel
How is full Cat B fuel worked out?
Full Cat B fuel is the total of:
- Taxi sector 1, plus
- Trip sector 1, plus
- Cont sector 1, plus
- Total fuel Sector 2.
What are the requirements to be met before being able to depart to an isolated aerodrome?
- the weather, 30 before to 2hrs after ETA needs to be above alternate minima.
- PROB/TEMPO/INTER need to be above alternate minima
- crosswind, incl. gusts need to be above aircraft and crew limits.
- 2hrs holding fuel at cruise consumption needs to be carried
What is the final reserve fuel for the A330/350?
30min holding at 1500ft AGL or 2600kg.
What is the minimum fuel one should land with at an isolated airport?
Final Reserve Fuel
What is the normal isolated airport fuel required?
Enough fuel to:
- proceed to destination
- hold for 2hrs at cruise power
- make an approach and land.
What is an isolated airport?
It is an airport that does not have a suitable alternate within 1 hr and 45 min flight time of the destination.
What is the minimum fuel one should land at the destination airport?
- Alternate fuel, plus
- Final Reserve Fuel.
What is the minimum amount of fuel required at any point in time in flight with no engine failure/depressurisation?
Sufficient fuel to:
- fly to the nearest ERA, plus
- approach and landing, plus
- 30min Final Reserve Fuel.
What is included in ALT fuel and may this figure be adjusted?
- missed approach from minima
- climb to cruise alt
- flight to ALT plus 5% cont.
- descent, approach and landing.
This may be adjusted by the PIC.
What is the minimum amount of fuel required at landing at the destination alternate?
Final Reserve Fuel
How is full Cat C fuel worked out?
Full Cat C fuel is the total of:
- Taxi sector 1, plus
- Trip sector 1, plus
- Cont sector 1, plus
- Taxi sector 2, plus
- Trip sector 2, plus
- Total fuel sector 3.
What requirements need to be met if in-flight reduction of fuel is applied after TOD?
- minimum of final reserve fuel at landing,
- weather needs to be suitable,
- runway availability needs to be considered,
- alternates need to be considered.
