What is malicious code?
Software that is written to intentionally hurt someone else’s computer
What are some types of malicious code?
Worm Virus, Trojan Virus, Ransomware, Spyware, Adware
What is a Worm Virus?
A piece of code that “burrows” into someone’s computer an replicates itself to spread to other computers
What is Trojan Virus?
A virus that pretends to be something else to get into someone’s computer and destroy files
What is Ransomware?
Software that is designed to lock someone’s files and not unlock them until money has been paid
What is Spyware?
Software that records everything that happens on a computer
What is Adware
Software that will get into someone’s and cause windows to pop-up that won’t close
What are other threats to cyber security?
Weak passwords
Outdated software
What makes a strong password?
A least 8 characters
Upper and lower case letters
A least one number
A least one symbol
What are the three types of hackers?
White-hat
Black-hat
Grey-hat
What is a white-hat hacker?
A person that hacks a system to test for weakness usually hired by the company whose system is being tested
What is a black-hat hacker?
Hackers that hack a system for personal gain
What is CAPTCHA?
A test for users to prove that they are not a robot
What are the two types of CAPTCHA tests?
Looking a pictures and deciding what squares have a certain thing
Reading deformed but readable letters
What are boimetrics?
Systems that checks a person’s fingerprints or retinas to verify who they are
