Q

How does light microscope compare to electron to scanning?

thickness and resolution.

What is the thickness of a phospholipid bilayer?

A

LM: 5 - 10 micrometers
EM: 20-100 nanometer
Scanning EM (SEM) view surface of a solid specimen.

Resolution:
LM optical lenses focus visible light (200 nm)
EM: Resolution (.2-.5 nm)

Scanning EM resolution 3nm.
