Data Flashcards
(18 cards)
Qualitative data
data described in words
Quantitative data
data described in numbers
Discrete data
data that is a certain value
Continuous data
data that is in numbers with no limit
Primary data
data you collect yourself
Secondary data
data someone else collects
Mode
most common
Median
Middle number
Range
the difference between the biggest and smallest number
Mean
Average = add all numbers together and divide by amount of numbers
random sampling
sample chosen at random
cluster sampling
population divided into clusters which they naturally fall into
stratified sampling
population divided into subgroups then a random sample taken from each subgroup
quota sampling
not random, divides population into subgroups then pick a sample from each subgroup but not randomly
what are the different quartiles?
upper quartile 75%
median 50%
lower quartile 25%
what is interquartile range?
Find upper quartile then take this away from lower quartile
- range between the 2 quartiles
what is SD
describes how spread out data is in relation to the mean
greater the SD the more spread out from the mean
