A
- Labels or names used to identify an attribute of the element.
- Data cannot be ordered

- Data shows the properties of ordinal data
- Interval between the values is expressed in terms of a fixed unit of measure
- Always numeric
example: temperature

A
- Numbers/categories are used to indicate a rank or order.
- Relative magnitudes are meaningful.
example: Survey responses that scale attitudes towards a business from 1 to 5

- The location of origin is zero – nothing exists for the variable at the zero point
