Q

What is the sampling rate of the Gemstone Clarity Detector?

A

The sampling rate of the Gemstone Clarity Detector can reach up to 2,496 views per rotation on the Revolution Apex. This high rate of sampling capacity is due to the garnet-based scintillator material of the Gemstone Clarity detector that allows for more efficient light transfers and a shorter afterglow. The high capacity rate of the Gemstone Clarity detector allows for high definition imaging and the utilization of dual energy (kV switching) acquisitions of one x-ray tube.

Q

What is digital tilt?

A

It is a prospective feature that allows images to be reconstructed at the desired angle set by the technologist. This feature along with utilizing a tilted head holder can allow for improved images in neuro studies by reducing dental artifact as well as reduce dose to sensitive organs such as the orbits. In short, it can prospectively tilt MPR without the physical requirement of a gantry tilt.

Q

Using ODM, how many degrees of dose reduction is used in head SFOV?

A

ODM is a feature that reduces dose to radiosensitive anterior organs (eyes, thyroid) by providing lower mA at a rate of up to 30% when utilizing the head, small head and ped head SFOV. This reduction of mA is used on 100 degrees of the most anterior portion of the prescribed z-length of the scan. The mA in the remainder 260 degree rotation is not changed. It is important to note that the effectiveness of ODM is reliant on the accurate patient positioning and ensuring anatomy is isocenter.
