What is a matter?
It is anything that occupies space and has mass.
What are the characteristics of the particles of matter?
They have spaces between them.
Particles of the same substance are identical to each other
Pure substances has only 1 particle.
Particles are always moving
What are the 4 states of matter?
Solid, Gas, Liquid and Plasma
What is the characteristics of the molecules in solid?
It has fixed volume and shape. Particles are so closed to each other that they are just vibrating together.
What state of matter that has fixed volume but a shape that adapts to its container?
Liquid
What are characteristics of gas?
Gas has a variable volume and shape. The particles are neither close or fixed
What is plasma?
Has variable volume and shape
neutral
has significant number of ions and electrons
can move freely
What state of matter that moves like waves and sometimes called as super atom?
Bose-Einstein Condensate
What is needed to change matter’s state?
Energy
