DB's SY 737 Landing Gear Flashcards
(34 cards)
Landing Gear Indicator Lights - Extinguished (red)
- Landing gear is up and locked with landing gear lever UP or OFF
- Landing gear is down and locked with landing gear lever DN
Landing Gear Indicator Lights - Illuminated (red)
- Landing gear is not down and locked (with either or both forward thrust levers at idle, and below 800’ AGL)
- Related landing gear is in disagreement with LANDING GEAR lever position (in transit or unsafe)
Landing Gear Indicator Lights (above LG lever) - Illuminated (green)
Related LG is down and locked
Note: LG warning horn is deactivated with all LG down and locked
Landing Gear Indicator Lights - Extinguished (green)
Landing gear is not down and locked
Note: LG is down and locked as long as one green LG indicator light (center panel or overhead) for each gear is illuminated.
LANDING GEAR lever
- UP
- OFF
- DN
- LG retract
- Hydraulic pressure is removed from LG system
- LG extend
What does the Override Trigger on the LG lever do?
It allows LG lever to be raised, by bypassing the LG lever lock
Max LG operating speed
- Extend
- Retract
- 270k-.82M
2. 235k
Max LG extended speed
320k-.82M
Do the overhead LG lights simply repeat the same info as LG lights on the center panel?
No. They are a redundant but separate set of LG indicator circuits and lights.
With the manual gear extension door open is it possible to:
- Manually extend gear?
- Normally extend gear?
- Retract gear?
- Yes, with the LG lever in any position
- Yes, if hydraulic SYS A pressure is available
- No.
What happens when the manual gear extension handles are pulled to there limits?
The associated LG uplock is released
ANTISKID INOP light - Illuminated (Amber)
A system fault is detected by antiskid monitoring system
What is the power source for the Parking Brake Warning Light (red)?
Battery
Hydraulic Brake Pressure indicator
- Normal pressure?
- Max pressure?
- Normal precharge?
- 3000 psi
- 3500 psi
- 1000 psi
How many degrees of travel does the nose wheel turn when:
- Rudder pedals are fully depressed
- Tiller full deflection
- 7°
2. 78°
Which hydraulic system powers NWS switch
- ALT
- NORM
- SYS B
2. SYS A
What is the minimum width of pavement needed to a 180° turn for 738 with scimitar winglets? (Widest turn in fleet)
79.6 ft
If normal braking is lost, is
- Antiskid available to both brakes?
- Autobrake available?
- Yes
2. No
What stops the wheels from rotating upon retraction:
- Main wheels?
- Nose wheel?
- Brakes
2. Snubbers
During main gear retraction, what happens if a spinning tire with loose tread impacts a fitting in the wheel well ring opening?
That gear stops retracting and free falls back to the down position. The affected gear cannot be retracted until the fitting is replaced.
During a manual gear extension after uplocks are released, what forces pull the gear down?
Gravity and air loads
Following a manual gear extension, what steps should be done to normally retract the gear if desired?
- Close manual extension access door
- Move the LANDING GEAR lever to DN with hydraulic SYS A available
- Position LANDING GEAR lever to UP
When is NWS normally available?
- Nose gear down as compressed by aircraft weight
2. Lockout (bypass) pin not installed
While taxiing, if you were to command the nose wheel to turn right 5° via rudder pedal and left 5° via tiller, what will the nose wheel do?
Turn left 5°
Tiller overrides rudder pedal steering
