What is the definition of electromotive force? (emf)
The amount of electrical energy per unit charge produced inside a source of electrical energy
In parallel, what is true about the potential difference?
Pd across components is the same
What is the equation for the rate of heat transfer?
VI
What is the equation for the pd across each resistor in series with the cell
Current x the resistance of each resistor
What is true about current in parallel?
Current adds up
What is true about pd in series?
Adds up
What is the equation for total resistance in parallel
1/Rt= 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
What is the definition of internal resistance
The loss of potential difference per unit current in the source when current passes through the source
What is the equation for emf?
E=I(R+r)
What is the equation for the current through each resistor
Pd across the parallel combination / resistors resistance
What is Kirchhoff’s law about current
The total current entering the junction is equal to the total current leaving the junction
What is the equation for cell current?
Cell emf/ total circuit resistance
What is Kirchhoff’s law about emf?
Sum of the emf is equal to the sun of the pd
What is the equation for ratios between each resistor and pd across each resistor?
V1/V2=R1/R2
What does a sensor circuit produce?
Produces an output pd which changes as a result of a change of a physical variable such as temperature
What does a light sensor consist of?
LDR and variable resistor
What is the definition of a potential divider
Two or more resistors in series connected to a source of pd
What is true about the ratios of the pd’s across resistors
Equal to the resistance ratio of the two resistors
What does a temperature sensor consist of?
Potential divider
Thermistor
Variable resistor
What is the fraction for the total resistance across a thermistor
V1= R1/R1+R2 x Vin
In series what is true about current
The current entering a component is the same as the current leaving the component
In series what is the equation for total resistance?
R= R1+R2+R3
