In 1937, Japan launched a full-scale invasion of China to gain resources and establish dominance in Asia. This act of aggression undermined the sovereignty established after WWI and exposed the weaknesses of the League of Nations.THis then eventually led to WW2

How was the Treaty of Versailles a cause of WW2?

A

The harsh terms of the Treaty of Versailles caused despair and resentment in germany after WWI. Economic issues enlisted by the treaty caused allowed the Nazis to capitalize on anger. Ultimately, the desire to overturn the treaty was a major driving force behind Hitler’s aggression that led to WWII.

A

At Yalta in 1945, the U.S., Britain and Soviet Union made plans for postwar Europe and Germany.

Formed UN, and Soviet entry into the Pacific war. However, disagreements over Eastern Europe caused conflicts and escalated into the cold war.

What were the effects of the war on American women? Positive, negative, or mixed?

A

WWII had mixed effects on American women in the short and long term. It opened up new job opportunities but also discrimination. In the postwar period, women had to leave those jobs but their wartime experiences raised awareness of gender inequalities, which thus caused women to fight for equality afterwards.
