A

Keeping signals at danger, and closing routes or keeping routes closed.

A
  • A derailment
  • A collision involving trains or rail vehicles
  • A collision with an obstruction
  • A collision with a road vehicle
  • A collision with a person
  • A fire on train which might put passing trains in danger
  • A fire on a train which might mean passengers are evacuated onto running lines
  • An accidental train division which has caused another line is to be obstructed

What are a drivers actions after a train accident?

A
  • immediately switch on hazard warning indication (or red light forward if this is not possible)
  • check if any other lines are obstructed and decide the quickest way to stop approaching trains
  • check your exact location and contact the signaller in the quickest way possible
  • if signal protection has be provided you must place track circuit clips on every line obstructed, and
    your own line if the whole train has derailed

  • Track circuit clips on every line which is obstructed, (on your line first if your whole train has derailed)
  • Lay 3 detonators 20m apart, 2km from the obstruction, towards approaching trains that propose the highest risk)

- you are unable to contact the signaller
