Edward the Confessor died on the 5th of January 1066. He was the last anglo-Saxon king.

How did he die?
A
Edwards’s death came after a period of illness that began after the Northumbrian revolt. He died from a series of strokes.

Who took over Edward as king?
A
Harold Godwinson had taken over Edward the confessor as King as he was next in line to take over if anything ever happened which it did. However Harolds time as king was very short as he was killed by William the Conquer during the same year of the Battle of the hastings.
