Declarative Memory
Is the type of long-term memory that involves conscious recollection of facts and events. It’s also known as explicit memory
Procedural Memory
Is the type of long-term memory responsible for motor skills and actions, which are recalled automatically without conscious awareness. It’s also known as implicit memory
Examples of Declarative Memory
Remembering the capital of a country, dates of historical events, and personal experiences, such as your last birthday party
Examples of Procedural Memory
Skills like riding a bike, typing on a keyboard, or playing a musical instrument, which you perform without needing to consciously think about them
Types of Declarative Memory
- Episodic Memory: memory of personal experiences
- Semantic Memory: memory of facts and general knowledge

Covers motor and cognitive skills

The Hippocampus, Prefrontal Cortex, and other medial Temporal lobe structures
