What are Contractions
The body’s way of resuming to breathe to exhale accumulated CO2
Why is Holding your Breath a mind game more of a mental challenge than a physical one
Because the mind is not used to not breathing. It comes up with all sorts of reason to stop the breath hold
The preparation for holding your breath has nothing to do with “oxygenating the body” True or False. Explain.
True.
Because at any given time, the blood is already fully saturated with Oxygen. The preparation instead is about physical and mental relaxation and focus.
What should be the points of attention when performing one full breath. Explain.
Focus remains on relaxation. It makes not much of a difference if we can access the very last bit of our lung capacity but pay for that with the build up of a lot of tension.
Breathe in slowly
Two stage full breath
Why is escaping air considered a sign for a freediver in trouble?
Because escaping air means losing oxygen and buoyancy which increases the likeliness to black out.
Describe the safety concepts of recovery breathing
In situations where you have pushed yourself a bit too far, rational thinking does not happen anymore. You will simply do what you trained your body to do - recovery breathing.
