Q

If given the chance, what would you do differently in order to make your research
better?

A

Choose different participants since the study is only limited to senior high school students of
Lyceum of the Philippines Cavite which makes it difficult for researchers to gather the data
based from their experience. For instance, choosing participants that were able to travel
domestically and internationally since they have more experience.

Q

What theory did you use to support your arguments?

A

The researchers used the Theory of Planned Behavior by Icek Ajzen. Where the traveler’s intention to visit a place are impacted by the views towards the place. And we also used Elaboration Likelihood Model by Petty & Cacioppo. In this theory, people can be persuaded in two ways centrally and peripherally both approaches are relevant when it comes to social media usage and tourist destinations choices.

Q

What is the relevance of your work to other researchers?

A

It can serve as a basis for future researchers since the study is all about finding if the two variables are correlational to each other which is the only variable that is correlation to travelers destination preferences.

Q

What are your recommendations after your research?

A

The researchers have 3 recommendations proposed
First, is that tourism marketers must prioritize investment in high-quality visual content since the results indicate that such content significantly influence travelers destination choices. Second is that travel brands must develop comprehensive social media strategies such as influencer collaborations and interactive campaigns that can attract possible travelers. Q

Why do you think your research is reliable?

A

We have reliable sources that strongly supports the study. For example, Akin and Sener (2024) found a positive relationship between social media and destination preference. While social media may not directly decide where tourists go, it strongly influences destination image and marketing success, which aligns with our study’s focus.

Q

Explain Sampling Technique

A

For this study, we will use simple random sampling, a probability sampling technique that gives each Senior High School student at Lyceum of the Philippines University–Cavite an equal chance of being selected. A complete list of students from all strands will be compiled, and participants will be randomly chosen. While the selection is random, only those who meet the criteria—such as frequently engaging with travel-related content on social media platforms will be included to ensure the relevance of the data to our research topic.

Q

Explain Conclusion and Recommendations

A

Our study concludes that social media has a strong influence on the travel choices of Senior High School students. The respondents strongly agreed that platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook significantly affect their decision-making process when choosing travel destinations. This influence is mainly driven by three factors: visual content, reviews and recommendations, and digital marketing. Visuals such as photos and videos were found to be strong in sparking interest and encouraging students to consider certain destinations. Additionally, trust in reviews and recommendations from influencers or travel pages plays a major role in shaping perceptions and choices.

Based on the conclusion and results, the following recommendations are proposed:

1.	Tourism marketers should invest in high-quality visual content. Since students are heavily influenced by visuals, using attractive photos and engaging videos will help increase the appeal of tourism-related content. This can influence potential travelers more effectively.

2.	Travel brands should enhance their social media presence. They should focus on creating strategies that include user-generated content, collaborations with influencers, and interactive campaigns (such as polls, challenges, or giveaways). These methods can inspire them to choose certain destinations.
