Implied consent
A
A defendant is not liable for an otherwise tortious act if the plaintiff consented to the defendant’s act. consent may be implied by law where the action is necessary to protect an important interest in person or property.

Self-defense
A
One may act in self-defense not only where there is a real danger but also where there is a reasonable appearance of danger. The test is an objective one - an honest belief alone is not sufficient.
