DOT
The federal government department charged with management and regulation of the nation’s transportation system.
FMCSA
The lead federal governmental agency responsible for regulating and providing safety oversight of Commercialized Motor Vehicles. The FMCSA is part of the DOT and responsible for regulating the trucking industry.
DSS
Manages driver capacity, tour planning, driver assignment, and maintenance.
DVIR
Are done by the Transportation Associate (TA) prior to operating a vehicle, known as the pre-trip inspection or at the completion of operation, known as a post-trip inspection.
VTI
Transportation Associate is responsible for performing a visual trailer inspection each time prior to moving a trailer within Amazon yards.
A.T.I.S.
Monitors trailer tire air pressure
PTI
PTIs are high-level baseline inspections for all TOM owned and leased vehicles, and they are completed in Austin. PTIs are not a DOT requirement however, they help demonstrate Amazon’s commitment to the safety of our associates and the public.
SLA
A commitment between a customer and service provider regarding when something should be completed or resolved.
Road Side Inspection
A Roadside Inspection refers to an inspection of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) and/or its driver by an authorized official, such as a law enforcement officer, at the roadside or during a traffic stop
