AT NIGHT refers to?
Means from half an hour after sunset until half an hour before sunrise, or such other period for the lighting of vehicles as shall be fixed from time to time by the Commissioner of Police and published in the Gazette.
What is DRIVER?
“driver” includes any person actually driving a motor vehicle at any given time and any person in charge thereof for the purpose of driving whenever the same is stationary on any road.
TARE means?
The actual weight of a motor vehicle when not laden but inclusive of the body, accumulators, loose tools, spare wheels and other usual equipment and a full supply of water and fuel used for the purpose of propulsion.
MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT is?
M.G.W. in reference to a goods vehicle means the tare together with the load including the weight of the driver and the loaders, and in reference to a motor omnibus means the tare together with the weight of the driver , conductor and number of passengers for which the vehicle is registered; and for the purposes of this definition the weight of a driver, loader, conductor or passenger shall be taken as sixty (60) kilograms.
MAXI TAXI is?
A public service vehicle with seating accommodation for no fewer than nine or more than twenty-five passengers.
What is a MOTOR VEHICLE?
Means any mechanically propelled vehicle intended or adapted for use on roads and includes a trolley vehicle, but does not include vehicles constructed exclusively for use on rails or other specially prepared tracks.
PARKING means?
Causing or permitting a vehicle, whether occupied or not, to stand in a road, except:-
- While the vehicle is being loaded or unloaded; or
- While passengers are entering or leaving the vehicle; or
- In compliance with the directions of a constable or of a traffic sign or with the requirements of traffic regulations; or
- While temporarily stopped by reason of traffic conditions; or
- While stopped owing to mechanical breakdown or lack of fuel, and “park” and other cognate expressions shall be construed accordingly.
What is ROAD?
Means any street, road or open space to which the public are granted access and any bridge over which a road passes, and includes any privately owned street, road or open space to which the public are granted access either generally or conditionally.
What does TRAFFIC mean?
Includes bicycles, tricycles, motor vehicles, tramcars, and vehicles of every description, pedestrians and all animals being ridden, driven or led.
VEHICLE is?
Includes tramcars, carriages, wagons, carts, motor vehicles, bicycles, tricycles, vans, handcarts, sledges, trucks, barrows and all other machines for the portage of goods or persons.
OVERTAKING means?
Passing or attempting to pass any other vehicle proceeding in the same direction.
STOP LINE refers to?
Any line painted on, or made of metal or other suitable material placed on a road for indicating where traffic must stop when required to do so either by a constable engaged in the control of traffic or by a traffic sign or by a light signal.
What is OWNER?
- In the case of a motor vehicle that is not registered, includes the person in actual charge or possession of the vehicle in Trinidad and Tobago;
- In the case of a vehicle that is registered, means the person in whose name the vehicle is registered: ……….

GOODS VEHICLE is?
A motor vehicle other than a agricultural tractor or industrial tractor which is so constructed or adapted as to show it’s primary purpose is the carriage or haulage of goods, merchandise or other loads and includes:
- A motor vehicle constructed or adapted for the carriage both of persons and of goods and which is registered for use as a goods vehicle.
- A motor vehicle which is registered for use and was so registered before 1963.
