Definitions Flashcards
TOGAF Standard Definitions (38 cards)
Abstraction
Providing generalised of specific descriptions of complex content - relevant issues being identified of complex architectures before detail is attempted
Actor
Person or structure with many roles, interacts with activities
Application Architecture & App Component
structural descriptions of applications that have key capabilities and manage data assets - application is an encapsulation of application functionality > bhvr, data, provides a services (available through interfaces). application maintains a dta components and is enabled by technology
Application Service
a behaviour request-able from an application, delivers one or more business services
Architectural style
features of a context in which architecture is performed, principles, characteristics that steer how architecture is performend
Architecture Continuum
Categorisation mechanism, for components in Lanscape or Reference Library > foundations (reference model) > industry architectures > org specific architecture
ADM
Multi-phased, itgerative approach of developing & using EA to shape Business transformation
Architecture Framework
Conceptual structure to manage an architecture
Architecture Governance
Monitoring practice to direct architecture-work - delivering outcomes and adhere to principles & standards
Architecture Landscape & Levels
Landscape = representation of assets in an enterprise, while Levels provide a framework(way of) of diving the landscapes by granularity
Architecture Partition
Subset of an architecture used to facilitate its development & management (Agile TOGAF).
Architecture Principles
A specific intention that the architecture should meet
Architecture VIEW vs VIEWPOINT
A view is a representation of a system from a specific perspective. A viewpoint is a convention or schema for an architecture view (i.e. ArchiMate Viewpoints)
Architecture Visio
Description of Target architecture including business value and changes from a good deployment = it is our aspiration that sets the boundaries for the architecture development
Artifact
a work product describing an aspect of the architecture i.e. diagrams or catalogues
Baseline
formally reviewed specification and basis for further development. should be changed through change control procedures
Boundaryless Information Flow
Access to information to support business process improvements
Building Block > Architectural Building Block
A re-usable component, when combined with others it delivers architectures and solutions (Name or Description) – Architectural components specifying Solution Building blocks at a logical level (not specific)
Busiess Architecture
Holistic and multidimentional business view - relates business elements to business goals
Capability vs Function vs Service
An ability a business has to achieve objectives. (what does a busienss need to do)
– while a Function is a collection of behaviour based on a criteria - typically performend by an organisation. how a businessis organised to do it
– a service exposes a behaviour // an interface i.e. a Function performs the behaviour of packing an order and shipping, a Service is how the customer tracks the order status
Business Model
rationale for how an enterprise creates value
Capability Increment
When all the portions of a capability architecture have been provided the capability is realized
Deliverable
Contractual architectural work product - stakeholders
Enterprise Architecture Service
Encapsulated element (offering) of EA capability that delivers a specific functionality and value i..e Assessment, capability mapping, portfolio rationalisation
