Q

Application Architecture & App Component

A

structural descriptions of applications that have key capabilities and manage data assets - application is an encapsulation of application functionality > bhvr, data, provides a services (available through interfaces). application maintains a dta components and is enabled by technology

Q

Architecture VIEW vs VIEWPOINT

A

A view is a representation of a system from a specific perspective. A viewpoint is a convention or schema for an architecture view (i.e. ArchiMate Viewpoints)

16
Q

Baseline

A

formally reviewed specification and basis for further development. should be changed through change control procedures

17
Q

Boundaryless Information Flow

A

Access to information to support business process improvements

18
Q

Building Block > Architectural Building Block

A

A re-usable component, when combined with others it delivers architectures and solutions (Name or Description) – Architectural components specifying Solution Building blocks at a logical level (not specific)

19
Q

Busiess Architecture

A

Holistic and multidimentional business view - relates business elements to business goals

20
Q

Capability vs Function vs Service

A

An ability a business has to achieve objectives. (what does a busienss need to do)
– while a Function is a collection of behaviour based on a criteria - typically performend by an organisation. how a businessis organised to do it
– a service exposes a behaviour // an interface i.e. a Function performs the behaviour of packing an order and shipping, a Service is how the customer tracks the order status

21
Q

Business Model

A

rationale for how an enterprise creates value

22
Q

Capability Increment

A

When all the portions of a capability architecture have been provided the capability is realized

23
Q

Deliverable

A

Contractual architectural work product - stakeholders

24
Q

Enterprise Architecture Service

A

Encapsulated element (offering) of EA capability that delivers a specific functionality and value i..e Assessment, capability mapping, portfolio rationalisation

25
Framework
A structure for content > tool to structure thinking ensuring completeness/consistency
26
Enterprise Continuum
Classifying Architecture and SBB as they move from generic to specific
27
Information > Information Technology > Interoperability
Representation of data > Lifecycle management of information in relation to technology used > Ability to share information Systems to exchange information Systems to share services with other systems, operating effectively together
28
Logical Architecture
is implementation independent
29
Metadata - Metamodel
Data about data > A model describing entities using in building an Architecture Description & Key Relationships between entities
30
Modeling vs Model Kind
Construction of models to enable insight > Conventions for type of modeling
31
Pattern
Putting together building blocks into context - building blocks are legos and patterns are instrution mannual (when, why to use). Example - Three Tier Architecture that gives an approach to design a system.
32
Reference Model
Abstract Framework for signifcant relationships among an environment.
33
Service Orientation / Service Oriented Architecture
Viewing an enterprise in terms of services provided // architectural style that supports service orientation
34
Solution Architecture
Description of a business operation and how IT/IS supports the operation
35
Solution Building Block (SBB)
Physical/implementation specific compoentns that realised ABB - can be business, application and tech
36
Solutions Continuumm
Categorisation from generic to detailed for components and artifacts in solution lansdcape and reference library
37
Technology Component
Tech Building Block - infrastructure that supports application components by providing technology services
38
Value Stream
end to end collection of activities that provide a customer valueno
