Definitions and Formulas Flashcards
(16 cards)
Median
A line from a vertex to the midpoint of the opposite side.
Altitude
A line form a vertex, perpendicular to the opposite side.
Perpendicular Bisector
Divides the side in two equal parts and is perpendicular to it.
Angle Bisector
Divides a triangle by dividing an angle in two equal parts.
Centroid
Intersection point where 3 medians meet.
Orthocenter
Intersection point where 3 altitudes meet.
Circumcenter
Intersection point where 3 perpendicular bisectors meet.
Incenter
Intersection point where 3 angle bisectors meet.
Radians to degrees
180/Pi
Degrees to radians
Pi/180
Arc Length
s=r(Theta)
Sides of a polygon given the exterior angle
360/measure of the exterior angle
Law of Sines
Sin(A)/a = Sin(B)/b
Law of Cosines
c^2 = a^2 + b^2 - 2abcos(C) –> where c is opposite the angle at vertex C
Distinct Parallel Lines
When the slopes are the same, but the occur in different spaces (have a different b value.)
Point Slope Form
y-y1 = m(x-x1)
