(10 cards)
Give the definition of Immanence/ Immanent?
This is the idea that God is near to us. He is active, present and involved in his creation
Give the definition of Transcendence:
God is a distinct being from the universe. He is not limited in ways that the creation is for example through time. He is a unique being with no limitations
Give the definition for Omnipotent:
This can be directly defined as “all power”, in other words that God is able to do anything
Give the definition for Omniscient:
‘The perfect knowledge of God’
Give the definition of Omnipresent:
The idea that God is present everywhere all the time. Again because he has no limitations, He can be everywhere
Give the definition of Monotheism:
This means to believe in only one God with religions such as Islam, Judaism and Christianity explaining God’s nature as one being
Give the definition of Polytheism:
‘the belief in or worship of more than one God’
When someone is described as a Theist, what is meant by this?
A Theist is someone that believes God exists
When someone is described as an Atheist, what is meant by this?
An Atheist is someone who does not believe God exists
When someone is described as Agnostic, what is meant by that?
There is no definitive evidence for either side and therefore we do not know. In other words they are someone who cannot decide whether God is real or not. They are in the middle; they don’t fully believe in him but they also don’t fully discount his existence
