Data
The computer-readable representation of related, processed items such as images, text, audio or video.
Information
The human readable representation of related, processed items
Input
Data or information entering a system
Output
Data or information exiting a system
Processing
The act of executing a set of instructions in order to create useful information out of data.
Computer
A device for receiving, storing, manipulating and processing data and presenting it as information.
Hardware
The physical components of a computer that aids in the performing the task of computation.
Peripheral
A hardware device that is not part of a computer but can be connected to it to add to its abilities e.g input peripheral devices and output peripheral devices.
Software
The virtual components of a computer
Operating System
Primary software that is pre-installed on a computer when it’s bought
User software
Secondary software that a user installs on a computer e.g Apps
Algorithm
A step by step procedure in performing a task or calculation.
Flowchart
A flowchart is a diagrammatic representation of an algorithm.
Pseudo code
Is a language between ordinary English and computer programming language that computer programmers use to develop software
Input peripherals
Used to enter data into a computer i.e mouse, scanner
Output peripherals
Used to output information to users, I.e speakers, monitors
Communication paths
Means by which computers access resources (including other computers) required to perform a computation e.g bus, cables or wireless
Motherboard
Motherboard or mainboard is the main circuit board through which data travels in a computer
Processor
Also called CPU interprets and carries out instructions that make the computer function.
