loss of sensory function causing numbness
loss of autonomic function (urinary or faecal incontinence)
hoffman’s sign: flicking one finger on patients hand and causing other fingers to twitch

MRI of cervical spine
- shows: disc degeneration and ligament hypertrophy + cord signal change
