Considered the first step in England’s long march towards modern democracy. Signed by King John in 1215 it sets Habeas Corpus and paves the way to the establishment of the rule of law
The English Bill of rights
sets out basic rights like freedom of speech, the right to elect members of the parliament without interference from the sovereign
