what is the demographic transition model (DTM)?
a model showing how birth and death rates change as a country develops economically
what are the characteristics of stage 1of the DTM?
high birth and death rates, low population growth
what are the characteristics of stage 2 of the DTM?
high birth date, falling death rate, population grows rapidly
what are the characteristics of stage 5 of the DTM?
birth rate falls below death rate, population may decline
what are the characteristics of stage 3 of the DTM?
