What are valance electrons?
- The CONTROL the atom’s behavior
- They are most likely to react with other atoms
- They have HIGH ENERGY
What is Bohr’s Model?
Bohr’s model shows the shell’s energy levels + electrons AND the number of shells.
What is the definition of density?
Density: The degree of compactness of a substance.
Are liquids definite or indefinite in shape?
Liquids are INDEFINITE in shape!
Where are the valance electrons in an element?
On the OUTERMOST shell!
What are the 4 phases of matter?
- Less dense
- Density increases
- Spread of particles increases
- Spread of particles decreases
What are the units of density?
Millimeter (ML) or Centimeter (CM) cubed
How do you find the volume of a cylinder?
3.14 x radius squared x height!
How do particles move in a solid?
Particles are stuck together and they do not move much in a solid!
Does a gas have a definite or indefinite shape?
Gases have INDEFINITE shapes!
Does a solid have a definite or indefinite shape?
Solids have DEFINITE shapes!
How do you find VALANCE electrons?
Valance electrons are found by looking at what ROW/COLUMN the element is in!
What is density?
Density is how DENSE something is….DUH!
How do you calculate/find density?
Density= MASS % VOLUME

L x W x H (length x width x height)!!!
How do PARTICLES move in a LIQUID?
Particles are close together and they only move a little bit in a liquid!
What does a LEWIS DOT diagram show?
A LEWIS DOT shows only the VALANCE ELECTRONS of an element!
What does a STABLE ELEMENT need to have?
A Stable element needs to have a FULL OUTER SHELL!
How do PARTICLES move in a GAS?
Particles are all moving a lot in a gas and they are SPREAD OUT, NOT stuck or close together!
Does a GAS have a definite or indefinite VOLUME?
A GAS has an INDEFINITE VOLUME!
Does a SOLID have a definite or indefinite VOLUME?
A SOLID has a DEFINITE VOLUME!
