Refers to the development of teeth and their arrangement in the mouth
Erupts
When a tooth becomes visible in the mouth
Shedding/Exfoliate
When a tooth becomes released or is no longer present in the mouth

The space that is between two adjacent teeth

Consists of 20 teeth aka the baby teeth
Begins with the eruption of the first tooth

Consists of 32 teeth also known as the adult teeth

Cross between canines and molars
There are 4 upper and lower premolars

Larger then premolars
Have 4 cusps
6 molars in the upper and lower arch
Anterior teeth
Teeth in the front that you can visibly see when smiling
Posterior teeth
Located in the back of the mouth
They contain premolars and molars
Tooth surface
Each tooth has 5 surfaces
Facial
The surface closed to the lips of the anterior
Buccal
The surface that is closest to the cheek in the posterior teeth
Lingual
The surface that is closest to the tongue
Occlusal
The chewing surface in the posterior teeth
Incisal
The chewing surface on the anterior teeth
Mesial
The surface towards the midline
