general inspection - well? general distribution of rash start with hands nail changes - pitting oncolyisis anterior arms ask patient to put arms behind head - backs of arms and axilla scalp - through hair and behind ears face inside mouth - severe drug eruptions chest and abdomen back genitals legs feet and toe nails - finger and toe webs fungal infections, melanomas
palpate temperature surface texture depth blanching or not lymph nodes if lymphoma suspected pulses if venous ulcer joint exam in psoriasis
